Phaedra

Founder | Primary Keeper | Audio Editor | Scenario Writer & Editor

  • Facebook

An enthusiastic and dedicated member of the TTRPG community, Phaedra is involved in all aspects of the hobby - and loves it!

She discovered Call of Cthulhu during the pandemic and proceeded to pour a lot of love into finding like-minded people, eventually conceptualising the Stars Are Right group and running her first campaign on the podcast: The Children of Fear!

Phaedra's projects include: GMing and everything else needed for the Stars Are Right podcast, writing and editing scenarios for the Miskatonic Repository, writing a scenario review blog called Phaedra Keeps an Eye, moderating several TTRPG discord communities, managing a Bristol-based TTRPG group introducing Women and Non-Binary people to the game, being a member of the Miskatonic Playhouse, and more.

Outside of TTRPGs, Phaedra volunteers in mental health, works as a massage therapist, and takes care of her adorable pet rats.

Braydon

(he/him)

Founder | Keeper | Audio Editor | Scenario Writer & Editor

  • Instagram

An avid TTRPG player and GM with previously published
material for D&D, Braydon puts a lot of love, energy and dedication into his work. He discovered Call of Cthulhu during the pandemic and hasn't looked back since!

He found community online, quickly becoming one of the top moderators of the Call of Cthulhu Discord server and going on to undertake projects like a 24 hour Masks of Nyrarlathotep Twitch-streaming marathon for charity, and, of course, co-founding Stars Are Right.

Braydon now spends his time playing Call of Cthulhu weekly on the SaR podcast, editing the audio and adding music and sound effects, and writing his own scenarios!

When not pouring time and care into his TTRPG projects, Bradyon competes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and enjoys the lovely golden beaches of his homeland of Australia.

Howl first got into cosmic horror through endless hours of the Eldritch Horror board game. He has Phaedra to thank for introducing him to Call of Cthulhu - in case it isn't obvious on the podcast, yes, they are a couple!

Everyone needed a hobby during the lockdowns, and scrambling to save a doomed world fit the bill pretty nicely. After listening to actual-plays for ages he's thrilled to have co-founded one, and role-playing feels like being back on the stage again. He's always managed to stay on the player side of the Keeper screen - so far.

Howl likes learning digital painting techniques and trying to make stories jump off the page with his illustrations. Check out his art in the Stars Are Right original scenarios and his portfolio. Feel free to get in touch about commissions.

Jayson

(he/him)

Player | Audio Editor

  • Twitter

Jayson was born and bred on a small island, seemingly free of any Deep Ones. For this reason, he had a pretty sheltered existence until graduating from university. He began to become exposed to the Mythos through his odd occasion as an investigator. However, after a few bad experiences with Keepers that didn't know their own arcane lore, he took the plunge into madness to become a Keeper himself.

When the stars are right, he enjoys creating a cacophony of sound to appease the Elder Gods as an Amazing Co-Editor, and occasionally takes part as a Voice Star, depending on his Ritual schedule.

When not involved in Stars Are Right, he enjoys heavy metal, craft beer and writing tabletop RPG content. Sometimes all at once.

Lydia

(she/her)

Player

After wandering away from the RPG world for a very long while (long enough for 7e to be published when she wasn’t looking) Lydia’s love of TTRPGs was reignited during lockdown. She’s flirted with a few other systems, but Call of Cthulhu is her first and most enduring love.

Lydia joined the team after what she thought was a playtesting session for a new Chaosium convention scenario, only to be told afterwards it had also been an audition. She was offered a role in the ongoing Children of Fear campaign, and has been with the podcast ever since.

When not preparing sacrifices to the Great Old Ones or ululating the blasphemous hymnals of Nyarlathotep, she enjoys crochet, museums, musical theatre and sewing her own cultist robes.

Gilly

Gilly started playing Call of Cthulhu in 2022 when a group she GM’s for asked if they could try it. She quickly fell in love with the system and started trying to get as many people as she could to play it too.

She lives at home in Scotland with her wife, three kids, two dogs and an extensive board game collection. Away from the table she enjoys rowing in the coastal waters and trying to keep houseplants alive. She’s only really good at one of those things

Knoxicles

(he/him)

Player

Having started playing Call of Cthulhu in 1997, Knoxicles probably qualifies as one of the Great Old Ones. Sadly, he spends a lot less time asleep and dreaming than he’d like.

When not recording the best little actual play podcast on the internet with the Stars are Right crew, Knoxicles can be found in a variety of geeky endeavours. As well as playing and GMing various TTRPGs, he enjoys board games, painting plastic soldiers, reading horror, sci-fi and fantasy fiction and drinking whisky. He also enjoys the sound of his own voice, so recording a podcast is a perfect pastime really.

Having been banned from most social media for previous unspeakable acts, Knoxicles can be found on the SAR Discord and on Yog-Sothoth.com. Come and say hello and tell him how much you like dumplings.

Seb

(he/him)

Player

Born in 1992 to parents who had decided five years prior that three children (and all boys, to boot) was quite enough, thank you very much, Seb endeavours to live a life worthy of the words "it wasn't what we had in mind, but on balance we're happy you showed up".

When not attempting (often unsuccessfully) to prevent eldritch catastrophes, Seb balances being a D&D dungeon master (boo, hiss), a corporate sellout (louder boos and hisses) and a writer of short stories, which you can read on his Vocal and Reddit profiles (if you can find them).
